Peter Grau is a partner in Grant Thornton Austria’s Tax practice, specializing in international tax, corporate tax, reorganizations and restructurings. He also advises on the tax aspects and tax structuring of M&A transactions. Real estate transfer tax and other transactional taxes are an integral part of his work. In addition, Peter Grau has extensive experience in tax controversy and litigation, covering tax audits, appeals and tax rulings.
Furthermore, he provides comprehensive tax advice to multi-national corporations active in Austria as well as family-owned and publicly held businesses in Austria.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton Austria, Peter Grau worked in the international tax and M&A Tax practices of two Big-Four firms for 25 years. He spent several years in New York as Head of the Austrian Desk in the U.S. as well as Director and Partner in Austria.
His experience ranges from leading complex international tax projects to providing tax advice in countless M&A transactions.
He advises family-owned and owner-managed businesses, multinational corporations, and private equity funds.
His clients include numerous Austrian businesses as well as internationally active corporations across a wide range of industries, including the real estate and infrastructure sectors.
Additionally, Peter Grau is an author of various publications on matters of international and corporate taxation as well as a speaker on these topics.
