Christoph Schmidl is a partner at Grant Thornton Austria and tax consultant with more than 15 years of experience in the industry.
As a tax advisor, he has over 15 years of extensive practical experience in the tax and consulting industry. He combines in-depth technical expertise with many years of hands-on experience in the areas of tax technology services, international matters, expatriates, sales tax, NoVA, and tax compliance. In recent years, his focus has increasingly shifted toward tax technology services, digital bookkeeping, and digital accounting. In this role, he plays a key role in driving the implementation of modern, digital bookkeeping and accounting solutions, as well as digital tax compliance solutions, for clients.
He has been responsible for building a strategic tax technology team, which has successfully supported companies for many years in the introduction, automation, and continuous optimization of technology-driven tax and accounting processes. A particular focus is on the implementation of AI-driven end-to-end accounting processes, including change management, employee training, and ongoing governance.
In addition, Mag. Christoph Schmidl is a long-standing lecturer in tax and accounting law as well as an author of specialized books, including for DBV Verlag and Neuer Wissenschaftlicher Verlag. With his extensive experience, he actively shapes the professional discourse at the intersection of tax law, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and governance.
