Walter Platzer is the International Practice Partner at Grant Thornton Austria and has been a partner of our firm for more than 25 years. He focuses on audit, especially of international groups and public interest entities that apply international accounting standards. Another key area of expertise of his work are mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate restructuring. He is also responsible for international relations in our firm.

Mag. Karl Newertal
Certified tax advisor, managing partner
Karl Newertal has more than 20 years of experience as a tax advisor and consultant. He is a member of the European Tax Committee and the Austrian member of the international VAT group. His key areas of expertise are tax planning and expatriate services. He provides tax and business advisory services to privately held groups with international operations. Karl Newertal is also responsible for the professional development of trainees in our firm.

Dr. Franz Schiessel
Certified auditor and tax advisor, managing partner
Franz Schiessel joined Grant Thornton right after obtaining his PhD at the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna where he was supervised by Walter Platzer, an assistant professor at that time. The focus of his activities is corporate tax planning, international tax and corporate restructuring. As far as assurance services are concerned he specializes on the audit of financial statements according to Austrian GAAP and IFRS.

Mag. Josef Töglhofer

Josef Töglhofer is one of the longest-standing employees of our firm. He specializes on business advisory services especially for firms in industrial manufacturing, service, food and the agriculture sector. Specialist advisory services are among his core competencies and he has extensive experience regarding IPOs, company valuations and due diligences. He is also coaching our employees in tax advisory services and audit.

Mag. Walter Benes
Certified auditor and tax advisor
Walter Benes has worked for Grant Thornton for more than 10 years. He is involved in corporate tax compliance services, but the focus of his activities is in the audit practice. This includes the audit of single entity and group financial statements according to Austrian GAAP and according to IFRS. His key areas of expertise are the audit of internal controls over financial reporting and the documentation of risk management processes.

Mag. Andrea Draskovits
Certified auditor and tax advisor
Andrea Draskovits provides business advisory and tax services to international clients in connection with cross-border activities, company formation and permanent establishments abroad. She is also responsible for expatriate services. She has more than 10 years experience in tax advisory services and takes care of corporate tax planning for large groups but also of tax compliance services for small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition to her work for our firm, she holds tax courses at a college of higher education. Among her core competencies are tax and financial due diligences and company valuations. Since she obtained the qualification as a certified public auditor in 2003, she has also been involved in financial statement audits.
Mag. Karl Fally
Certified tax advisor
Karl Fally has been working for Grant Thornton for more than 20 years. He specializes on tax advisory services with his client base including both large groups and small and medium-sized enterprises. He also focuses on audit and assurance services, especially for companies in the transportation and industrial manufacturing business. In addition he acts as a coach for our trainees in the audit practice.

Mag. Alexandra Janovsky
Certified auditor and tax advisor
Alexandra Janovsky specializes on the audit of national and international companies according to Austrian GAAP and IFRS. Her activities also include tax advisory services. Furthermore she is in charge of internal trainings and quality control for our audit services practice.

Sven Uhlig has been working in the IT-business for more than 15 years. His key area of expertise is the analysis of IT based business processes as part of an integrated audit. This includes IT governance, IT systems, practices and operations, IT security technology and IT security management.
